Community Projects

Bell Ringing

Annually West Salem Rotary partners with the Salvation Army to ring bells for two days at Roth’s Salem West. This partnership has been ongoing for many years. The proceeds benefit families in the Polk County area.

Family Christmas Sponsorship

Each year West Salem Rotary partners with a non-profit organization to provide gifts for children in the West Salem community. Club members donate funds to purchase gift and food items for families.

Dictionary Project

Each year a portion of West Salem Rotary’s berry sales go to help provide dictionaries for 4th grade Salem-Keizer students in the West Salem area.

Teacher Grants

West Salem Rotary offers teachers in West Salem area schools the opportunity to receive a $500 grant toward a special project or program to benefit West Salem area students. Applications must clearly demonstrate how the project promotes or emphasizes one of the four Rotary values: Service Above Self, High Ethical Standards, The Enhancement of International Understanding, Education as a pathway to success resulting in further service.

Hunger Awareness and Food Drives

Rotary Clubs in the area enthusiastically participate in the annual Rotary Hunger Awareness Month and efforts to support food drives for Marion-Polk Food Share. This effort is held in March.

Wallace Road Cleanup Crew

The Club has adopted a section of Wallace Road NW just north of town. Every few months we send a crew out to pick up trash. We want to be proud of our community, and since this section of road is a gateway into the city, we want it too look great. Honk of you see a Rotarian next time we are out on the job!
