Dictionary Project
Rotarians throughout Salem donate dictionaries to all 3rd Graders in the Salem-Keizer School District. Each dictionary is stamped with the Rotary logo and personally handed out to 3rd grade students.
It’s refreshing to see kids get excited about words. We play a little game with them, they close their eyes, flip the pages and land a finger on a word. Then they tell the whole group what word they found. Sometimes this can be hilarious.
This project helps gets kids excited about reading and helps improve the literacy level in our local school system. Promoting literacy is an important part of the mission of Rotary International.
