West Salem Rotary Scholarships

West Salem Rotary has been able to offer scholarships to West Salem students for many years. Our successful berry sale fundraiser has raised a lot of money of the years. In fact, we have given away more than $358,000 over the years since the scholarship program has been offered.

In this picture are high school students who received scholarships in 2019. Scholarships of $2,000 each were awarded.

Scholarship Requirements

Students with the following criteria are eligible to apply for scholarships:

  • Live in West Salem
  • Must be graduating high school or be currently enrolled in college
  • Display a need for financial help
  • Have the desire to accomplish
  • Have the grades or talent to reach their goals

Deadlines, Key Dates

Applications are due at the end of February. Interviews will be conducted in March. Recipients will be called by the end of the month and invited to a special scholarship awards dinner for the recipients and their families in April.

Our scholarship is posted at high Schools in Polk County including West Salem, Western Mennonite, and Salem Academy.

Selection Process

The selection will be made by the Scholarship Chairman and committee members after a review of the applications and an interview with each student. Applications should be made available to all high schools where West Salem students may be in attendance. Funds may be applied to trade schools as well as universities.
